Nottingham Forest have been dealt a major blow as Nigerian international Ola Aina has been ruled out of action for around three months after sustaining a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The versatile defender, who has been a key figure for both club and country, was forced off the pitch after pulling up in the first half of the game. Medical assessments later confirmed the severity of the injury, with recovery expected to sideline him until late December.
This setback comes at a crucial time for Nottingham Forest, who are already battling for consistency in the Premier League. Aina’s absence will also be felt by the Super Eagles as they prepare for upcoming fixtures in the CAF World Cup qualifiers, where his defensive solidity and experience have been vital.
Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo is now expected to rely on alternative options at full-back, while Nigeria coach Finidi George may have to reshuffle his squad ahead of their must-win qualifier matches.
Despite the setback, both Nottingham Forest and the Nigerian Football Federation have expressed optimism about Aina’s recovery, wishing him a speedy return to action.
