Haaland Matches Ronaldo Record in City’s 2–0 Villarreal Win

Erling Haaland continued his remarkable scoring form as Manchester City defeated Villarreal 2–0 in the UEFA Champions League at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Tuesday night.

The Norwegian striker opened the scoring in the 17th minute, calmly converting Rico Lewis’s low cross to extend his scoring streak to 12 consecutive games, matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic record for consecutive goals in UEFA competition.

City doubled their advantage before the break when Bernardo Silva rose to head home in the 40th minute, giving Pep Guardiola’s side a commanding lead. Despite sustained second-half pressure from the hosts, the Premier League champions held firm to secure their first away win in the Champions League in over a year.

The result lifts Manchester City to seven points from three matches, strengthening their position at the top of the group and extending their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions.

Haaland’s latest strike not only highlights his extraordinary consistency but also reaffirms his growing legacy among Europe’s elite goal-scorers.
